Annual Connections ConferenceThank you to everyone who attended MTA's 29th Connections Conference in Lansing on Friday, October 28, Our theme of "Learning Centers in Collaboration" was certainly embodied in the sessions and the networking! Our 2010 conference "Tutoring in an Age of Change," was held at St. Clair County Community College, SC4, in Port Huron on October 22. Thanks to all presenters and attendees at our 28th Connections Conference! The Board wishes to especially thank SC4's Tim Lutenski for serving as conference chair! The keynote exploredVirtually Tutoring or Tutoring Virtually: That is the Question. When tutoring students who are connected to Facebook, text messages, YouTube, and other digital media, how do you connect with them? Speaker Nadine Davis, a professor of English at Delta College, demonstrated many online tools we can use to reach students. Other sessions explored working with returning and veteran students, as well as the challenges of retraining. What's still to do?
