After a thirty-year Navy career, Brian Frost enrolled at Davenport University in the College of Technology in 2012, working toward his degree in Security and Information Assurance with a major in Information and Computer Security. During his first semester, one of his instructors asked him if he was available to assist some of students from one of her other classes. Near the end of the semester, she suggested that he contact the Tutoring Center to continue his assistance to other students at the university. Brian has a 4.0 GPA at Davenport, carrying four and five classes each semester. In May 2013, Brian was notified of his selection by the Department of Defense as one of 21 recipients nationwide of the Information Assurance Scholarship Program. This scholarship is offered to over 165 universities which are designated as a Center of Academic Excellence; Davenport’s College of Technology is one of five universities in Michigan to earn that designation. Upon graduation in April 2014, Brian and his wife JoAnn will begin a new chapter in their life when Brian returns to the Navy as a civilian government employee working for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command.
